Consider some tips that may help with the definitive elimination of bad breath:

1. Go to your dentist

You should undoubtedly visit your dentist every six months for an examination of your oral health. Here – and if necessary – you can have a deep dental cleaning, such as treating cavities (if any), removing tartar and plaque, among other things. It is possible that halitosis is caused by some of these diseases, and by treating them, you eliminate the bacteria and germs that cause bad breath.

Don't forget that your dentist is the right professional to share these concerns with. After examining your teeth, gums, and tongue, they will be able to rule out all of these as causes of your bad breath and conclude that the best course of action is to refer you to a specialist in another medical field.

2. Brushing, flossing and mouthwash: your best allies

It is extremely important that you dedicate time to your teeth. In order to correctly remove dirt, you should brush for at least two minutes. The aim is to dislodge food particles that may accumulate between your teeth and near the gum line to prevent plaque and tartar.

Ideally, after brushing, you should use dental floss to remove what brushing couldn't reach between your teeth. A single pass over all your tooth surfaces will ensure cleanliness and, therefore, eliminate odours produced by food decomposition in your mouth.

Finally, nothing beats a good mouthwash. Many dentists recommend the use of Chlorhexidine due to its antiseptic and antibacterial properties. It not only eliminates microbes, germs, and bad breath, but also heals mouth sores and whitens teeth.

A good diet frees you from bad breath

Above all, eat well. You already know that onions and garlic are strong-flavoured foods and leave your mouth imbued with strong aromas. It is important that you consume foods that do not alter the mouth's ideal pH in order to have good breath – in addition to healthy teeth and gums.

Avoid eating food overly seasoned, alcoholic beverages and coffee.

We also recommend eating meals every 4 hours.
